J2 Software is a cybersecurity-focused Managed Security Services Provider delivering 24/7 SOC services, managed detection and response and security consulting to customers across multiple geographies.

Our teams are excellent at delivering the highest levels of customer service and operational cyber security, we are not very good at telling everybody about it. We are looking at telling our story better, more consistently and at scale. We are looking for the right person to help us tell this story to drive brand authority, generate leads and prove the trust we have built up with our clients over many years in a noisy cybersecurity market.

Role Purpose

The Group Marketing Manager is accountable for defining, refining and executing J2 Software’s marketing strategy.

This is not a “brand-only” or “agency coordinator” role.

You will own outcomes: lead generation, pipeline contribution, brand visibility and consistent messaging while orchestrating internal stakeholders, external agencies, and founder-led initiatives into one coherent engine.

You will take what exists today (ideas, agencies, intent, executive expertise) and turn it into a value generator within the group. We do not want to keep doing the same things we have always been doing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and refine the J2 marketing strategy, aligned to J2’s growth objectives.
  • Translate business priorities into a clear, executable marketing roadmap.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for marketing performance and delivery.
  • Provide clear direction to agencies, partners and internal contributors.

  1. Demand Generation & Pipeline Contribution

  • Design and execute campaigns that generate qualified leads, not vanity metrics.
  • Own the full marketing funnel: awareness → MQL → SQL handoff to Sales.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Support and Renewals to ensure marketing supports revenue outcomes.
  • Continuously test, refine and optimise campaigns based on performance data.

  1. Brand, Messaging & Positioning

  • Own J2 Software’s brand narrative and positioning in the cybersecurity/MSSP market.
  • Ensure consistent, credible, and differentiated messaging across:
    • Website
    • Content
    • Events
    • PR
    • Sales enablement
    • Internal communications
  • Turn complex cybersecurity services into clear, compelling stories that resonate with decision makers.

  1. Founder-Led Marketing & Thought Leadership

  • Assist in the design and execution of a founder-led marketing strategy, leveraging the CEO and leadership team as visible cybersecurity thought leaders.
  • Own the planning, production, and promotion of:
    • Webinars
    • Podcasts
    • Executive-led video, commentary, and industry insights
  • Convert executive expertise into scalable, high-impact content across:
    • LinkedIn and social platforms
    • Website and blogs
    • PR placements and speaking opportunities
  • Manage logistics, scripting, scheduling and follow-up so executive participation is high-impact and low-friction.
  • Ensure all founder-led initiatives support:
    • Brand authority
    • Lead generation
    • Sales conversations

  1. Agency, PR & Partner Management

  • Own relationships with digital marketing agencies, PR partners, and freelancers.
  • Translate strategy into clear briefs and measurable deliverables.
  • Ensure agencies execute against J2’s priorities, not generic campaigns.
  • Hold partners accountable for quality, timelines, and ROI.

  1. Digital, Content & Social Marketing

  • Own digital marketing strategy across:
    • Organic and paid social (especially LinkedIn)
    • Content marketing
    • SEO and website optimisation
  • Ensure social activity drives conversation, credibility, and engagement and not just posting volume.
  • Oversee development of case studies, customer testimonials, blogs, video, and long-form content.

  1. Events, Webinars & Field Marketing

  • Own planning and execution of:
    • Webinars
    • Industry events
    • Sponsorships
    • Trade shows
  • Ensure events are purposeful, well-planned and leveraged for:
    • Lead generation
    • Brand authority
    • Sales enablement

  1. Budget Ownership & Performance Reporting

  • Own the marketing budget, ensuring spend delivers measurable ROI.
  • Define, track, and report on KPIs including:
    • Lead volume and quality
    • Pipeline contribution
    • Campaign ROI
    • Brand visibility metrics
  • Provide clear, regular performance updates to the CEO.

Experience & Capability Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant experience in senior B2B marketing roles
  • Proven ownership of lead generation and pipeline contribution
  • Strong experience in digital marketing, content, events and PR
  • Experience managing agencies and external partners
  • Data-driven mindset with strong commercial awareness
  • Comfortable working directly with a CEO and leadership team

Desirable

  • Experience in cybersecurity, MSSP, SaaS, or complex B2B technology
  • Experience building or fixing marketing functions
  • Experience with founder-led or executive-led marketing
